Bill Maher Criticizes People Hoping for Trump's Death in Latest Assassination Attempt

Bill Maher Condemns Violence Against Trump

Comedian Bill Maher has criticized those who wished for President Trump’s death following the recent shooting incident at the White House Correspondents Association dinner, which marked the third assassination attempt on him.

During a segment on his HBO show, Real Time, last Friday, Maher addressed the situation, starting with, “Let’s first eliminate the ugly news about political violence.”

He continued, “If you’re one of these people, and there are many in this country, and you look at that and you’re disappointed that the president wasn’t killed… you’re not a good person. You’re not a smart person.”

While Maher did not shy away from critiquing Trump, he pushed back against those who label him as “Hitler.” He stated, “Certainly, Trump was often not good, polite or kind. But he’s not Hitler!”

Maher argued that calling Trump “Hitler” only adds to the violence, suggesting that such extreme views could lead to harmful actions. “I don’t think you’re a good person. I don’t want to be someone who thinks that way. And it’s not wise,” he expressed. He added, “Do you think that’s going to solve the problem?… MAGA is not going to die! We tried impeachment, and it didn’t work. We tried going to court, and it didn’t work. The only way this is actually going to work is if it’s happening. His popularity is at its lowest level, even among his core supporters.”

Last week, a 31-year-old man named Cole Allen allegedly aimed to target the president and some Cabinet members during the WHCA dinner. Allen, living in Torrance, California, reportedly traveled across the country on a train, arriving at the Washington Hilton armed with a shotgun, handgun, and several knives.

In his manifesto, he is said to have prioritized certain individuals as targets, expressing his anger toward the government. Reports indicate that Allen was arrested while attempting to breach a security checkpoint above the event venue. The Secret Service fired at him, and although one agent was shot, his bulletproof vest saved his life. Luckily, there were no other injuries.

In the aftermath, President Trump, who has survived two previous assassination attempts, urged Americans to handle their disagreements peacefully. “I ask all Americans to recommit in their hearts to peacefully resolving our differences,” he said. He acknowledged the diverse group at the event, emphasizing the unity and love he observed, saying, “I watched and watched and was very impressed by it.”
