Bill Maher supports Sydney Sweeney amid accusations of 'racist' American Eagle advertisement

Bill Maher Defends Sidney Sweeney from Online Criticism

On his recent episode of “Real Time,” Bill Maher came to the defense of actress Sidney Sweeney, who faced backlash from some online critics over her “good jeans” advertisement for American Eagle. The critics labeled her as “Nazi” and “white supremacist,” and Maher found humor in their harsh labels.

Maher chuckled about the irony of those condemning the actress, pointing out that while they claim “there is nothing like a good gene,” their actions don’t quite align. He said, “I don’t think they did that on purpose, but it’s kind of funny that all the social justice warriors are like, ‘It’s racist, there’s probably no good genes,’ while swiping left on bald guys on Tinder.”

He continued to mock the accusations against her, suggesting that people twisted her words about her appearance and style to fit their narratives. He commented, “She mentions her blue eyes and says, ‘I have great jeans.’ But, based on those who’ve awakened, that makes her a white supremacist.”

Maher further joked, tossing in comments about her physique, paradoxically linking it to the terms used by critics in a comedic way. He quipped about her bra size and made light of her language about her body.

Meanwhile, Vice President JD Vance weighed in on the situation during a podcast, laughing at the reactions from those on the left. He remarked that their strategy seemed to be labeling anyone who finds Sweeney attractive a Nazi. Vance criticized the left’s overreaction to what he saw as a harmless advertising campaign, alluding to lessons they failed to learn since the last election. “The lesson they revealed is to attack people as Nazis who think Sidney Sweeney is beautiful. Great strategy, guys,” he said, underscoring the absurdity of the backlash.

In the end, it appears the discussion around Sweeney’s ad has sparked broader conversations about perception, political correctness, and the sometimes overzealous reactions from those who consider themselves socially aware.
