Bills Facing Challenges Ahead of Divisional Round

The Buffalo Bills are gearing up to meet the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round, marking a chance to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since 1993. However, recent injury concerns could hinder their chances.

Quarterback Josh Allen has been managing multiple injuries—his foot, knee, and a right finger issue. This week, he was one of 15 players listed on the injury report. Despite being limited during Tuesday’s practice, he was back to full participation by Wednesday.

Even with these setbacks, Allen has consistently proven he can deliver on the big stage. In their previous game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he showcased his skill, throwing a touchdown to Dalton Kincaid late in the game and running another score in to secure the victory.

The Broncos, known for their strong defensive capabilities, are well aware of Allen’s talent. Last year, he passed for 272 yards and threw two touchdowns against them. Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II emphasized the importance of limiting Allen’s opportunities, noting that he can find ways to make plays even when faced with pressure.

As the team’s defensive coordinator, Vance Joseph understands the challenge ahead. “We can’t really replicate what he brings to the game,” he said, recognizing Allen’s unique abilities.

Adding to the Bills’ woes, wide receiver Tyrell Shavers has been ruled out for the playoffs due to a torn knee ligament. Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed this unfortunate news just a day after stating that another key receiver, Gabe Davis, had also suffered an injury. Currently, healthy receivers on the roster include Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Brandin Cooks. Others like Mecole Hardman are possibilities to be promoted from the practice squad.

Injuries are a concern throughout the team, with other players like Kincaid, Ty Johnson, and Curtis Samuel also dealing with issues. McDermott pointed out that the focus must remain on what’s ahead, stressing the need for the team to control what they can. He expressed confidence in their preparation for the upcoming game.

This match is set to take place on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET, and both teams are gearing up for what promises to be an intense showdown.
