A St. Louis branch of Life Time Fitness has come under fire for adopting a policy that allows transgender women into the women’s locker room.
The policy ultimately empowered a 52-year-old transgender woman, who walked into the women’s locker room and began waltzing in a bikini.
“I looked and I saw a guy walking by in a bikini, his genitals in full view,” Cindy Zykan told Jason Whitlock in a recent “Fearless” interview.
After filing her complaint, Zaikan received threats on social media from a man calling himself Ellis Montano, who also attempted to visit her home to threaten her and her husband, forcing Zaikan to apply for a restraining order.
“This man has been married for 23 years, he has children with his wife, his wife works at Lifetime Fitness and he was previously a Lifetime Fitness member under a male identity,” Jason Whitlock told Blaze News Tonight’s Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson.
“He was recently divorced and decided he was a woman,” he added.
Jikan’s complaint led the homeless man to sleep in his car at the gym for about a week, after which protests erupted.
“We’ve seen the same weird stuff happen at Planet Fitness and other facilities that subject mentally ill people to this kind of thing,” Peterson said, before asking Whitlock how Life Time Fitness responded.
“I think most people who work at Life Time Fitness were sympathetic to their members who thought this was outrageous. This man was in a locker room showering and grooming with women and children,” Whitlock said.
Life Time Fitness was simply pandering to the transgender issue being thrust upon the nation, only to have a man removed from the club by police after making threatening social media posts.
Though it took a little longer than expected, Whitlock believes it was the right thing to do, but he thinks that as a society, we should go a step further.
“We need to start treating people with gender identity issues as people with mental health issues that need treatment,” Whitlock concludes.
