Blue-state resident projects ‘Trump 2024’ image on town water tower, giving local leaders fits

Leaders in charge of a Massachusetts town are in a panic after local residents decided to beam pro-Trump messages onto the town's water tower.

On Friday, people began noticing a “Trump 2024” sign displayed on the water tower at 228 High Street in Hanson, a town of about 11,000 people near Boston. To counter the illuminated messages, Highway Department officials have turned the spotlight on water towers, but so far they have only served to dilute Trump's image.

“This individual's actions could cost taxpayers a large amount of money.”

Hansontown Administrator Lisa Green said: statementargued that the main problem with the image was that it “misleads the public into believing that this activity is sanctioned or tolerated by the town.”

Green reiterated that the town “does not support candidates for any office from any political party.”

The town then prepared to send formal cease-and-desist letters to residents suspected of publishing the images. The town also began imposing fines of $100 per day to recoup some of the cost of putting the spotlight on the town. Those fines have continued to accrue since then, officials said.

“This person's actions cost taxpayers a lot of money, including legal fees, overtime pay to the Highway Department employees who turn the spotlights on and off every day, and the possibility of having to rent or purchase more powerful lighting equipment. “The $100 per day fine likely won't cover those expenses,” Green said.

“Further measures are being considered at this time,” her statement added.

Hanson authorities have refused to release the name of the resident responsible for the images. here.

They also claim to respect residents' right to support the candidate of their choice.

“While the Town of Hanson respects the right of all residents to free speech and the right of all residents to express their political views, the Town of Hanson respects the right of all residents to express their political views. “We do not allow expressions in a manner that suggests that we are,” Green's statement said.

at least Two local residents of Han Son Even if they understand why the leaders wanted to intervene, they have some appreciation for the political stunt.

Patrick Crogan, who lives across the street from the water tower, said: “I laughed because I thought it was creative and it made me feel good.'' It's political. ”

“The town needs to make sure we're complying with state law, and I believe that anyone has the right to put a Trump sign or a Waltz/Harris anywhere they want,” Lisa Carson said. added.

As of Friday night, the images were still visible. It's unclear whether the culprit kept the lights on, but both the fines that have been accrued and the report that WHDH knocked on the door Monday morning “of the home where the projection is taking place” show footage of the water tower remaining. It shows that
