'Boardwalk Empire' actor Michael Pitt makes strange approach to reporter before court hearing in sex crimes case

Actor Michael Pitt, known for his role in “Boardwalk Empire,” made a rather unusual approach during a Brooklyn court proceeding on Thursday. His defense attorney sought to dismiss a charge related to his ongoing domestic violence case.

At 44, Pitt tried to engage a reporter by inviting her to his home for a “conversation” right outside the Brooklyn Supreme Court, where he was supposed to discuss the case concerning allegations made by his ex-girlfriend.

Dressed in sunglasses and a baseball cap, Pitt has been accused of both sexual assault and domestic violence against his former partner at his Brooklyn residence. He suggested that if the reporters wanted to discuss the incident, they should come to his place instead. “If you want to come to my house and officially talk, you can come there,” he stated. “You should have done it before.”

However, when the reporter sought to set up a formal interview, Pitt abruptly changed his demeanor.

He began probing the reporter with personal questions about her background and education.

In May, Pitt was arrested for various alleged attacks on his girlfriend at his Bushwick home. During the recent hearing, his attorney, Robert Gottlieb, requested access to the victim’s phone in hopes of dismissing the criminal charges against Pitt. “He’s actually innocent,” Gottlieb asserted.

Pitt, who also starred in “Dawson’s Creek,” showed up in court alongside a woman dressed in a black suit jacket and a white linen shirt.

Judge Abena Dark revoked Pitt’s supervised release, reminding him to “thank you” his mouth.

This year, he was placed under supervision following multiple arrests, with charges that include first-degree sexual abuse, criminal sexual conduct, assault, and strangulation. Prosecutors allege that Pitt assaulted his ex-girlfriend in four different violent incidents between April 2020 and August 2021.

In one of the alleged incidents, he is said to have forced his ex-girlfriend to engage with him and reportedly assaulted her with a piece of wood later on. During another event in June 2021, prosecutors claimed he attacked her at Cinderblock.

Pitt continues to maintain his innocence regarding all charges.

His lawyer revealed that the New Jersey native is currently “working on multiple projects” across Italy and Europe and is scheduled to travel to France soon.

The judge instructed Pitt to avoid any contact with the alleged victim and indicated that his legal team needed to inform the court via email about any travel plans he might have. Pitt is due back in court on January 29, 2026.
