Indiana State Police released body camera footage showing the rescue of a man who had been trapped inside a truck for nearly a week.

The six separate videos are FOX 32 Chicagoshowing the perspectives of five different police officers as they rescue 27-year-old Matt Reum on December 26, 2023.

“I've never seen anything like this before,” one Portage Police Department officer says in one of the videos showing a wrecked truck surrounded by running water under a bridge. can be heard.

The video shows first responders using tools to help rescue Reum, and police officers trying to figure out how the crash happened.

According to a preliminary investigation, Reum was heading west on Interstate 94 on Dec. 20 when his truck veered off the road and into a ditch, then rolled through the air and overturned several times. It fell into the stream under the bridge.

The accident left Reum trapped inside the truck and unable to reach for his cell phone to call for help.

Six days later, two fishermen searching the fishing pond found a truck with what appeared to be a dead body under an overpass. When one of the men touched his body, he was shocked when Reum turned to his face and spoke.

“Officials said recent mild weather in northern Indiana, which is near freezing at this time of year, likely helped Reum get through his ordeal,” FOX Weather reported.

“Honestly, it's a miracle he's alive.” indiana state police Sergeant Glenn Fifield said.

Not only is Reum on the road to recovery, but he has also been reunited with the good Samaritan who found him and the first responders who rescued him, FOX 32 reported.

“You all took a miracle and turned an ordinary person into the most grateful person ever. I can't thank you enough,” Reum wrote on Facebook on New Year's Eve. “It's a Christmas miracle in itself that I got through this, but my heart has grown three times bigger this year because of the generosity shown to me.”
