A wheel fell off a Boeing 737 shortly after landing in Argentina, the latest safety flaw from the scandal-scarred aircraft maker.
The Aerolineas Argentinas plane was en route from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires around 6pm on Monday when its left rear wheel came off on a taxiway, according to the airline and photos.
“The plane lost a tire while traveling at low speed on the taxiway after landing at Aeroparque Airport,” an airline representative told NewsFlash Media.
The airline said no one was injured as the plane's landing gear had two wheels on each side.
“The separation in no way compromised the safety of passengers or the aircraft. The company's engineers are conducting an analysis to determine the cause of the accident,” the official said.
Upon landing on runway 13 at Jorge Newbery Airport, a wheel appeared to come off the landing gear. Aviation Source News reported.
It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the safety issues or how old the jets in question were. Boeing did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Washington Post on Thursday.
Boeing has been plagued by a series of technical safety issues this year, starting in January when a door plug on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max plane blew off, sparking fears for passengers.
The company has also been dogged by whistleblower testimony and congressional investigations in recent months.
