Bondi criticizes ‘unforgivable’ violence at a fertility clinic in California

Attorney General Pam Bondy has strongly condemned the “unforgivable” violence that occurred at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, where one individual was killed on Saturday.

Bondy stated, “I was briefed on the explosion that took place today at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California. Federal agents are currently on the scene alongside local law enforcement.” She shared this information on social media.

“We’re working to gather more details, but let me be clear. The Trump administration recognizes that women and mothers are vital to America,” Bondy emphasized. “We will not tolerate violence against fertility clinics.”

Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills mentioned on Saturday that the explosion from a vehicle appeared to be an intentional act of violence, causing substantial damage to several nearby buildings.

According to Mills, one person has died; however, their identity has not yet been disclosed. The explosion occurred shortly before 11 a.m. local time.

The FBI offices in Los Angeles confirmed that they have sent investigators, bomb technicians, and evidence response teams to assist with the situation.

California Governor Gavin Newsom also received a briefing regarding the explosion. He wrote, “Jen and I are thinking of everyone involved,” and noted that the state is collaborating with local and federal authorities as the investigation progresses. He urged the public to avoid the area.

Reports indicate that law enforcement is looking into the possibility of the explosion being caused by a car. Two officials discussed this issue on Saturday.

The American Reproductive Center in Palm Springs expressed their heartbreak over the loss of life and injuries caused by the event, stating, “This event has deeply affected individuals and families.” They released a statement on Facebook on Saturday.

The center assured that no staff members were harmed and that their IVF lab, along with “eggs, embryos, and reproductive materials,” remains “fully safe and intact.”

They added that they are conducting thorough safety assessments to ensure their operations and sensitive medical services continue without disruption and plan to reopen on Monday.
