U.S. Attorney General Moves for Security Reasons

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has recently been relocated from her home to a secure military base in the Washington, D.C. area, as reported by The New York Times.

This move follows threats from various foreign drug cartels, alongside her involvement with files related to the late convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Sources revealed that Bondi left her D.C. apartment last month after federal officials identified ongoing security threats, notably after the Trump administration’s capture of former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro in January.

Bondi has firmly advocated for labeling drug cartels as terrorist organizations and has pushed for aggressive prosecution against them.

In addition, several high-ranking officials within the administration have also moved to military housing for similar reasons, primarily due to increased security threats and protests at their homes.

Current Housing Status

  • Stephen Miller – Deputy White House Chief of Staff: He and his family are currently living on a military base in D.C. after selling their Arlington home in late 2025. This relocation aims to protect them from what he describes as “organized campaigns of vilification.”
  • Marco Rubio – Secretary of State: Currently residing at Fort McNair on “General’s Row,” his move was influenced by domestic protests and targeted foreign threats tied to his actions related to Iran.
  • Pete Hegseth – Secretary of War: He also stays at Fort McNair, with heightened security needs due to his leadership in Operation Epic Fury.

While Bondi’s specific location remains undisclosed, it’s not unusual for senior U.S. officials to relocate to military bases for safety against domestic or international threats. During Donald Trump’s presidency, both former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Defense Secretary James Mattis moved to secure military installations for similar reasons. This practice traces back to the George W. Bush administration when then-Defense Secretary Robert Gates lived in naval housing near D.C. for his safety.

The report indicates that Bondi’s relocation was largely due to “credible threats” from international drug cartels following Maduro’s capture and her advocacy for labeling significant cartels as terrorist organizations, but there’s also a backdrop of “extreme hostility” related to the Epstein case.
