Border Crisis Comments from Tom Homan
Border Czar Tom Homan didn’t hold back when discussing potential Democratic actions regarding immigration changes. He’s facing legal issues due to his role in the Trump administration’s strict immigration policies. On “Jesse Watters Prime Time,” he remarked, “They’ve already said they will, so please come and buy it,” addressing fears of policy reversal.
Homan emphasized, “The bottom line is we’re not going to let them forget what they’ve been doing for the last four years.” He expressed frustration about the impact of immigration policies, drawing attention to significant issues like drug overdoses and family separations at the border. “Half a million children have been torn from their families… 250,000 Americans have died from drug overdoses,” he stated. He credited President Trump for achieving what he termed “the most secure border in the history of this country,” suggesting that under his administration, human trafficking and terrorist crossings had decreased significantly.
His remarks followed a tragic incident involving Rahmanullah Rakanwal, an Afghan national who reportedly shot two National Guard members in D.C. last year, resulting in one death and serious injury. Rakanwal had legally entered the U.S. under a program aimed at helping Afghan allies during the U.S. exit from Afghanistan.
Homan highlighted that although Rakanwal’s asylum was granted in April during Trump’s term, the vetting itself occurred under Biden’s administration. This contradiction illustrates broader concerns regarding background checks and immigration policies.
Looking ahead, Homan made it clear that the focus would be on ensuring proper vetting of immigrants. He stated, “We’re going to find all of these people who weren’t tested and make sure they’re properly tested. If not, we’ll send them home.” Homan reiterated his belief that “President Trump is going to make this country safe again.” It’s a promise he intends to uphold.
