Border Patrol responds to JB Pritzker's assertion of an 'unconstitutional invasion'

On Wednesday, Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino responded strongly to Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s comments regarding federal law enforcement actions in Chicago, which Pritzker labeled an “unconstitutional invasion.” Bovino expressed skepticism about Pritzker’s abilities, suggesting he would struggle in a crisis while criticizing him for endangering the state’s residents and law enforcement by not addressing crime effectively.

Bovino stated, “Plain and simple, he doesn’t care,” emphasizing the need for Pritzker to acknowledge the issue of crime and work with federal authorities.

In reaction, Pritzker publicly thanked his legal team for preparing a federal lawsuit against what he calls the government’s overreach into Illinois. He voiced his determination to oppose actions he perceives as dictatorial, particularly after President Trump ordered the National Guard to deploy in Chicago.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refuted Pritzker’s claims, asserting that federal activities are lawful and aimed at tackling crime, not targeting racial minorities. Bovino supported this perspective, noting recent arrests related to gang activity and individuals on terrorist watchlists, stating that they pose a significant risk to public safety.

He pointed out that when local officials fail to protect their constituents, federal agents will step in to address the challenges. His remarks followed a recent operation where suspected gang members were arrested, highlighting the serious threats operating in Chicago.
