Boston City Councilwoman Julia Mejia told WBTS Boston on Thursday that suburbanites need to join forces and start offering their homes as migrant shelters.
The councilman argues that the suburbs have more resources than the city, and thinks it’s time for suburbanites to jump on board with the border crisis.
“Dedham, Wellesley, Brookline – cities and towns that have far more resources than the city of Boston. People who actually receive more financial support.” Mejia Said station. “We need to do everything in our power to make sure they are prepared for success, or what success looks like.”
“I think everyone should open the door because this is a shared responsibility,” she insisted.

Mejia is not the first member of the Massachusetts Democratic establishment to require residents to surrender their homes to evacuate illegal border crossers who have flooded into the Bay State thanks to President Joe Biden’s worsening border crisis.

Massachusetts Democratic Gov. Maura Healey’s administration has also floated the idea of allowing residents to house immigrants in their homes.
In August, Mr. Healy declared a “state of emergency” due to the influx of illegal immigrants, stating: declaration“Currently, approximately 5,600 families, or more than 20,000 people, including children and pregnant women, are housed in state shelters.”
Days later, Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll (D) implored homeowners to vacate their rooms. saying“Most importantly, if you have an additional room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family. Housing and shelter are our most pressing needs, and we encourage sponsoring families to Please become to.”
Mr. Healey’s office then worked with nongovernmental organizations across the state to persuade homeowners to solve the immigrant housing crisis.
After the Healey administration brought into its homes unemployed, homeless, and undocumented immigrants who had no legal documents or status and had already proven to be susceptible to trespassing, they were asked whether their children were safe or not. It is unclear whether they have created a system to help owners know. American law.

Like Healy before her, Mejia also suffered ridicule for suggesting that ordinary citizens should burden illegal aliens with private residences.
“So, did Julia Mejia open the door? Is she a legal citizen herself? It’s amazing how generous the left is to other people’s homes. But when it’s theirs, it suddenly becomes nowhere to be found. ” one X user yelled back at Mejia.
So did Julia Mejia open the door?
Is she a legal citizen herself?
It’s amazing how generous the left is to other people’s homes.
But when it comes to theirs, suddenly they are nowhere to be found.
No one should house illegal aliens.

One commenter asked how many illegal aliens Mejia brings into his home.
“Hey! @juliaforboston how many people are you bringing home? Please let us know.”

“Why should those who had no say in illegal immigration policy share the responsibility for disastrous outcomes?” One Asked.
The other person couldn’t believe it. write“Incredibly, Democrats want Americans to open their homes to potentially dangerous illegal immigrants. Even if the border crisis doesn’t cost Democrats their jobs in 2024. , I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
