An 8-year-old boy was arrested Thursday at a Brooklyn school with a gun in his backpack — one day after threatening another student with the same gun, police and law enforcement officials said. It was Ding’s pace.
Police say the student at PS 158 (Warwick Community School in East New York) had an unloaded Taurus .380 gun in his book bag when he was searched around 10:30 a.m. It is said that he was doing so.
Officials said the boy had previously “threatened” another student with a deadly weapon inside the school on Ashford Street near Belmont Avenue on Wednesday.
The threatened boy alerted his mother, who entered the school on Thursday to report what had happened. School officials then searched the backpack, sources said.
It was not immediately clear if anyone would be charged in connection with the weapon. Officials said there are no metal detectors installed at the school.
Officials said a letter was sent to the student’s family informing them of the incident.
