Brazil’s President: It Appears All 62 People On Crashed Plane Have Died

Update 12:25 p.m.: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva issued a statement saying all 62 passengers on board Flight 2283, which was bound for Guarulhos, Brazil, were “presumably” dead.

However, the airline Voepass is yet to confirm what caused the plane crash or how many people died in the incident.

“VOEPASS has taken all measures to assist those involved. It is still to be confirmed how the accident occurred and the current condition of the passengers,” airline Voepass said in a statement on Friday.

A passenger plane carrying 62 people crashed in Brazil on Friday.

The plane also hit several homes on the outskirts of Sao Paulo, Brazil, according to the country’s civil defense agency.

The plane was operated by the airline Voepass Linhas Area.

The plane was en route from Cascavel, Paraná state, to Guarulhos, São Paulo state.

At this time, the number of casualties is unknown, but based on a video posted to Twitter of the plane falling and crashing, the chances of survival appear low.
