'Breakfast Club' erupts regarding accusations that Democrats misrepresented Biden's decline

Radio Host Charlamagne vs. Angela Rye on Biden’s Health

On Thursday, radio host Charlamagne engaged in a heated discussion with former CNN commentator Angela Rye about President Joe Biden’s health, specifically addressing allegations of dementia and whether these claims impacted his election prospects.

Charlamagne probed Rye about why he believes Democrats are now willing to speak candidly about Biden’s health, referencing books like “Original Singh” by former Biden spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre and CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s recent publication.

“Why the sudden honesty about their struggles when they seemed quiet about it two or three years ago?” he queried during the segment on “The Breakfast Club.”

“You’re questioning why it appears to come out all of a sudden,” Rye responded, trying to clarify the dynamic.

“It does seem abrupt. Come on, Angela!” Charlamagne retorted.

Rye suggested that the revelations in Tapper’s book were not unprecedented, viewing it as merely the newest in a string of similar critiques.

Despite this, Charlamagne maintained his stance, asserting that Biden’s health issues contributed to the party’s electoral setbacks.

“Why share this information only after the damage is done? Shouldn’t they have informed the American public two years ago? Maybe we wouldn’t be in this situation now,” he pressed.

“I’m not sure I buy that,” Rye replied. “It seems like people preferred the drama of lies to the flat truth, and they chose to mislead,” she noted, reflecting on Trump’s victory in the previous election.

“Good luck with that argument,” Charlamagne shot back.

“So it wasn’t Biden who was deceptive?”

Charlamagne then brought up a moment from 2023 when Rye reacted strongly to DJ Envy’s comments regarding Biden and dementia.

Rye mentioned that her grandmother suffered from dementia, expressing her offense at such comparisons. “He doesn’t have dementia. Not yet, anyway,” she asserted about Biden.

Rye continued to defend Jean-Pierre, stating she faced poor treatment in the White House due to her race. “Jake having you on the show and questioning Carine’s current role, I can’t say for certain, but her experiences are constantly challenged by the white men she’s expected to work alongside,” Rye argued.

“She had to constantly cover for that guy,” Charlamagne interjected.

Rye clarified that she wasn’t just referring to Biden but also to the experiences of other staff members in the White House.

“It’s frustrating when your peers challenge your presence instead of supporting your role—it can feel a bit undermining,” she remarked.

Jean-Pierre has long been an advocate for Biden’s mental and physical fitness, dating back to 2022. She announced in June her decision to leave the Democratic Party to become independent and also mentioned her forthcoming book, “Independence: Inside the Broken White House Beyond the Party Line.”

Rye is among several liberal commentators asserting that former President Trump and Republicans are gearing up to manipulate the 2026 midterm elections.

No response was received from a Biden spokesman on this matter.
