Brit Hume Says Trump’s Crime Strategy Is A Smart Move for Politics, Claiming Democrats Have Fallen Into A Trap

Trump’s Political Strategy Targeting Democrats

Britt Hume, a political analyst, shared insights on Fox News regarding how Democrats have seemingly fallen into a political trap set by President Donald Trump. The Trump administration recently initiated Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago and other parts of Illinois, focusing on illegal immigrants who benefit from sanctuary policies. During a discussion on “Special Report with Brett Baier,” Hume noted the difficulty Democrats face in countering Trump’s proactive crime prevention strategies.

“I think Democrats, as mentioned, are stepping into the traps that the president’s crime approach has set for them,” Hume remarked. He emphasized that the issue of crime is something that the public is eager to see addressed.

According to Hume, Trump’s stance on crime resonates with voters who are seeking safer communities. “People want to feel secure in urban areas, and as long as the president’s actions contribute to that safety, it’s likely to be well-received,” he said. He acknowledged some legal concerns but maintained that Trump’s approach appears to be politically advantageous.

The administration has turned its attention to Chicago following major immigration enforcement actions in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. In August, the Department of Homeland Security sought support from the Great Lakes region for operational logistics.

In response, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have been vocal in their opposition, asserting they would resist expanded immigration enforcement. Johnson has been actively promoting a media campaign against these efforts, including an executive order from August 30 that instructs the city to use legal avenues to block federal immigration actions and the deployment of the National Guard.
