Bruce Pearl criticizes college protesters who speak out against Israel but remain quiet on Iran

Bruce Pearl Critiques College Protesters Over Silence on Iran

On the latest episode of his “Ruthless” podcast, renowned college basketball coach Bruce Pearl expressed frustration with far-left college protesters for their silence regarding the ongoing unrest in Iran, particularly in the context of recent protests against Israel.

“Right now, thousands of Iranians, both women and men, are out on the streets, just demanding freedom and not having to live under the lunacy of this Islamic extremism,” Pearl remarked. He questioned, “Where are the university protesters? They should be ashamed that they are not among the thousands on any Ivy League campus.”

Pearl also addressed a rally he attended in Washington, D.C., which focused on female athletes amid a Supreme Court case concerning trans athletes in women’s sports. He expressed regret that a rally supporting Iranian protesters didn’t take place in the Iranian capital during this sensitive time.

He mentioned, “We’re scared to teach. We’re scared to have difficult conversations,” adding that colleges often strive for institutional neutrality, which he deemed ineffective. “Sometimes both positions exist: good and bad, right and wrong,” he noted. “But we want to be institutionally neutral. Really? It won’t work!”

Pearl praised former President Donald Trump, claiming, “In my opinion, there has never been a better president in the history of our country, especially in terms of what he has inherited.” He continued, “This world was a dangerous place, and he’s just trying to make this world safer. Now the Middle East is safer. Iran has a chance to be free.”

As a Jewish individual and a strong advocate for Israel, Pearl shared that he has faced backlash for becoming more vocal about his views, including online criticism telling him to “go back to Israel.” He asserted, “I love this country. I would give my life for this country,” but also expressed his connection to his Jewish heritage and faith, emphasizing that this does not diminish his American identity.
