An elderly man was beaten by a thug in the lobby of a Manhattan apartment complex over the weekend after he refused entry, authorities said.
Police say the 79-year-old victim was in the lobby of her building near East 23rd Street and Third Avenue in Gramercy Park shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday when an unknown man opened the door and asked him to come inside. He was asked to do so.
According to police, the senior refused and a violent scuffle ensued, ending with the blackmailer punching the senior in the face.

The suspect then took off heading west on East 23rd Street.
The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to NYU Langone Medical Center, where his condition is said to be stable.
The assailant, seen in surveillance video released by the NYPD, was last seen wearing a fur hooded jacket, blue sweatpants, and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
He was still relaxing on Thursday.
