LeBron James’ Future: Philadelphia or Cleveland?
As the summer approaches, Philadelphia has emerged as a possible landing spot for LeBron James, and Bryce Harper, a standout for the Phillies, recently shared his thoughts on the matter.
During the Phillies’ series opener against the Mets on Thursday, Harper was asked about where he believes James might play next season.
“Honestly, I think he might go back to the Cavs,” Harper stated. “It seems like he could finish his career there. But you never know. He just might go back to Cleveland.”
He continued, “Of course, the Sixers have some exciting players now, especially with the addition of Jaylen Brown. If he’s looking for a fun city to play in, well, this could be the place.” Harper shared his views using the microphone during the game.
Harper, being a prominent figure in Philadelphia sports, naturally advocated for the 76ers as a potential option for the NBA superstar. Yet, he echoed a common sentiment: many believe LeBron could return to his roots in Cleveland.
On Thursday, LeBron addressed his impending free agency while at Fanatics Fest in New York, but he kept his plans under wraps.
He hasn’t escaped the chatter either; fans have expressed their hopes for him to move. “Where? Where did you hear that?” he responded when asked about rumors surrounding his next destination. “I heard about the Warriors, Philadelphia, Miami… someone even suggested the Yankees to me.”
The 41-year-old seems poised to make a decision soon, and whatever he chooses will certainly affect the landscape of the NBA. It’s unclear if Harper’s predictions will come to pass, but the speculation adds an intriguing layer to the NBA offseason.
