Bryson DeChambeau Withdraws from LIV Golf Mexico City

Bryson DeChambeau pulled out of the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City on Sunday, citing wrist discomfort he experienced during his previous round. This decision adds to the ongoing narrative of ups and downs for the golfer and the league.

In a social media announcement, he said, “I felt some discomfort in my wrist during yesterday’s round and have decided to miss the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent further injury. This week didn’t go as well as we had hoped, but we wish the Crushers all the best. We will take a few days to get evaluated and prepare for the LIV Golf Virginia game.”

DeChambeau had a tough time throughout the week, with his performance on the course not meeting expectations. On Thursday, he was overheard expressing frustration about the course conditions at Club de Golf Chapultepec.

Heading into Sunday, DeChambeau found himself 16 strokes behind Jon Rahm, having scored even par over two rounds and a 2-over 73 on Saturday. A memorable moment came when he took a shot from a bunker that went over the green, leading to some remarks about the state of the grass he disturbed.

In a light-hearted video, he commented, “Oh, is this a big deal? It’s definitely good to see.” This came on the heels of a dramatic situation earlier in the week when rumors swirl about the Saudi Public Investment Fund potentially pulling its support from LIV Golf, creating a stir in the sporting community.

While LIV Golf remains funded through the end of the 2026 season, concerns about its future have cast a shadow over the league. The Mexico City tournament also faced challenges, including a power outage that disrupted the broadcast for over an hour, adding to the week’s difficulties.
