Amid the chaotic end to the PGA Championship, Bryson DeChambeau paused everything to make sure his souvenir golf ball ended up in the right hands.
As DeChambeau was walking between holes during Sunday’s final round, he threw a golf ball to a young child, but an adult intercepted the ball and the child quickly ran away with the ball.
The star golfer then realizes that the ball didn’t end up in the right hands, comes to a complete stop, reverses course towards the adult, and as his frustration grows, he repeats the words, over and over again, while pointing the golf club at the adult. Hey,” I shouted. A man running away, As seen in the video posted on X.
When DeChambeau said, “Come on, buddy,” the adult man turned and pointed at the boy who was about to accept the keepsake.
DeChambeau refused to leave until the ball was in his child’s hands and he was ready for his next shot.
Many fans were also upset about the adult who ran away with the ball, with some in the crowd chanting, “Give the ball back to that guy,” and calling DeChambeau a “man of the people.”
DeChambeau was booed at last year’s PGA Championship at Oak Hill, but when he made 18 birdies to take the lead, the crowd went wild and seemed to flip the narrative.
He finished Sunday’s play at -20, one stroke behind winner Xander Schauffele.
“I had to learn from this,” DeChambeau said. “Last year I learned a lot about myself and was able to perform at Augusta.” [tied for sixth] And today I was able to record 7 under. ”
DeChambeau, one of the defectors who reportedly signed a four-year, $125 million contract from LIV Golf, is still competing in the majors, and this week after nearly clinching his first major win at Valhalla, ‘s popularity is at its peak.
