Buckingham Palace Cancels Invitation for Prince Harry to Stay at Buckingham Palace

Prince Harry’s Invitation to Buckingham Palace Withdrawn

Reports indicate that Buckingham Palace had initially invited Prince Harry to stay during his visit to the UK, but quickly rescinded the invitation within about 15 minutes.

This brief gesture seemed like a peace offering amid ongoing family tensions, but it didn’t last long, according to The Guardian. Harry was planning a short stay at the palace, but was abruptly told he was no longer welcome. It seems issues regarding security arrangements complicated the situation.

King Charles reportedly discussed the matter with his son before the invitation withdrawal was made public. Harry was expected to stay for one night during his solo trip to London.

Initially, Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, and their children were offered accommodations at the palace, but they declined on Saturday, as reported by Britain’s PA Media. After opting out for family accommodations, Harry then requested to stay alone. Allegedly, his team was still working out security details, which delayed his response, causing further complications.

Palace officials reportedly felt it was too late to arrange staffing by the time everything unfolded. They claimed they did everything possible to make Harry’s stay happen but noted that the required notice was not met in time. They extended their invitation for another occasion, The Guardian reported.

Harry’s team hinted that the invitation withdrawal might be linked to his ongoing legal battle against Associated Newspapers Limited, according to reports.

A spokesperson for Harry expressed disappointment about the retraction of the offer, stating that officials had known about it since the previous Thursday.

As it stands, it remains uncertain whether Harry will meet with his father during this visit to London.
