Quan remains on life support in the intensive care unit after a seven-hour operation, the station said.
According to KTVU, the 33-year-old victim and his family lived in a housing complex and the victim was the sole breadwinner for his wife of seven years and their two daughters, ages 7 and 3 months.

“This shocking incident has left the entire family traumatized and in deep grief. This tragedy has placed a severe financial burden on our family,” the fundraiser message said, according to the station.
Quan’s sister set up a GoFundMe page, saying Quan was the only member of the family who spoke English and was in touch with family responsibilities.
The fundraiser said he emigrated to the United States from Taishan, China, in 2005 “searching for the American dream for his family.”
