On “CNN News Central” on Monday, CNN senior political commentator and former Obama adviser David Axelrod answered questions about global turmoil in the Middle East and Europe under President Joe Biden due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and what could happen in 2024. Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump said, “This is part of the burden of being the president of the United States. War breaks out and you’re the president,” which he will likely use as an attack line against Biden.
Axelrod began by saying that no one was to blame for the Iranian helicopter crash. He continued, “But listen, this is part of the burden of being president of the United States. A war breaks out and you’re the president. I think it brought the troops to Israel that the Israelis needed to repel an attack from Iran. But that’s the burden on the president. We should be in a position to go it alone in the world. We should want allies and be cautious between ourselves and others so that when disorder breaks out we can work together to bring about order. You should want a relationship.”
