A Florida man was arrested last week after his home was burglarized and assaulted after he left drugs outside, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced Thursday.
Judd, who posts short “morning briefing” videos on his Facebook page almost every day, was sent to jail himself after the victim, 59-year-old Everett Brown, called 911 for help. I told the story.
Judd said Brown, who lives in the Frostproof area, had been harassed by youth groups.

One day, Brown called 911 after 14-year-old Phillip Sutton IV kicked in her door and hit her with a red broomstick.
As Polk County deputies investigated and processed the crime scene inside Brown's home, they found cocaine “in visible form.”

Sutton, who is said to have confessed to the crime, was arrested at the scene. Judd said robbery and battery are both felonies.

He was booked into jail on Nov. 5 and released on Nov. 9 after posting $5,000 bail.
“Mr. Everett didn't deserve to have his home broken into and beaten by this hooligan, but he should have hidden the cocaine before calling 911,” Judd wrote in the video's caption.
