Burgum Says U.S. Natural Resources Could Be ‘Triple’ the National Debt

Home Secretary Doug Burgham said USC's natural assets are worth tripling its $36.6 trillion national debt at a policy event hosted by Breitbart News.

meetingfeatured a fiery statement from Burgham when interviewed on stage by Breitbart News Director of Washington, D.C., by Matt Boyle.

“I've heard you have $36.5 trillion in debt, one or two or more times, or even ten times. So it's in the ads. I'll hear you,” North Dakota Gov. Burgham said. “We hear that, and I'll invite anyone here from the media side. [to] Do what I did when I was going through a Senate hearing. ”

Bulgham explained how he recently moved to Washington, D.C. to join President Donald Trump's cabinet, and said he began by asking about national debt “in authority or experience.”

“I said, 'What are our debts?' 36 trillion. “What are our assets?” So we're going to challenge anyone who tries to find the current balance sheet in the United States,” the secretary said incredibly.

“And if you come up with it, it could be some financial asset,” he continued.

…I can say that as an interior head, the interior has 500 million acres of surfaces. Brook Rollins has an additional 200 million forest service on the US grasslands. So, on the 700 million acres of surface, there are 700 million acres of underground, with mineral rights, important minerals, oil and gas.

And there's 2.5 billion acres of offshore, many of which have not even been investigated. All of these represent huge assets for us. So, if we take up land, mineral resources or offshore resources that are near our forests, land, grasslands, urban areas, and we think that the number is… double, triple, what is our national debt. That could be 100 trillion.

According to Bulgham, Americans will feel safer about the impending country's debt if they know what the country's natural assets are.

“You know that people may lower the 10-year interest rate for people. [would] “Wow, these guys have plans on how they'll be able to cover it and pay off this debt, and they're actually in really good shape.”
