Riley Gaines Discusses Caitlin Clark’s Controversy
Riley Gaines recently commented on the issues surrounding WNBA player Caitlin Clark, arguing that the criticism she faces is more about her incredible skills than about her race or sexuality. Gaines believes that other players’ jealousy is at the root of the on-court hostility directed at Clark and pointed out some of the double standards that exist in sports.
Nike Launches Caitlin Clark’s First Signature Basketball Shoe
After a wait of more than two years, Nike has introduced the Nike Caitlin 1, marking a significant achievement for Clark, who joins an elite group of athletes with signature shoes. This release comes in the wake of Clark’s record-setting performance, where she scored 40 points and made 10 assists for the first time in WNBA history during a game against the Seattle Storm.
Following this accomplishment, she debuted a new colorway of her sneaker on Saturday. Initially, I found these shoes a bit lacking, but they’ve grown on me lately.
The bright royal blue design—called Racer Blue on Nike’s site—features the iconic white Nike Swoosh along with neon detailing. In terms of versatility, the white upper paired with a clear blue sole is my favorite; it looks great on the court and off, providing a clean aesthetic.
The Nike Caitlin 1 is set to hit the market on October 1, 2026, priced at $140 for adults and $115 for youths.
Clark made headlines not just for her footwear but also for her exceptional play. The shoes feature motivational phrases like “Shoot More Threes” and “From Anywhere,” which really resonate with her style of play.
These signature sneakers were a product of Clark’s significant eight-year, $28 million endorsement deal with Nike after the 2024 WNBA Draft. In her early seasons, she often wore exclusive Kobe Bryant shoes while fans eagerly anticipated her own model. The Indiana Fever will face off against the New York Liberty at home this Saturday.
