California couple Alex and Daisy De La Rosa ordered to stop fixing Compton potholes

A California couple has been ordered to stop repairing local roads themselves that the local government won’t fix after causing several problems with their car.

Alex and Daisy De La Rosa were issued a cease-and-desist letter by the city of Compton after they took it upon themselves to fill a hole that wreaked havoc on the city’s streets.

The couple works as courier in the city, with Daisy driving and Alex delivering packages, and the nuisance pothole leads to several tire blowouts, suspension problems, and a few arguments. After that, I started a side project. According to KABC.

As their efforts began to garner attention, they were quickly halted when the couple received a sarcastic letter from Compton’s Department of Community Improvement Services, citing unauthorized road repairs.

“Your actions pose a threat to public safety and the integrity of the city’s infrastructure and raise serious concerns,” the letter, dated March 14, said, according to ABC 7. The letter listed fines, fees and “potential liability for damages incurred as a result of (their) actions” as potential penalties.

“We were able to draw attention to an ongoing issue in our city. By taking matters into our own hands and speaking out, we are shaming those in power and holding them accountable. We now know that we can make our money worthwhile again.
