Los Angeles police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a doctor who treated movie stars and athletes, and whose body was found near the doctor's car outside a medical center.

The Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release that the incident occurred at approximately 6:12 p.m. on August 23 in the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard. When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim with a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at his workplace.

According to multiple reports, the victim was identified as 61-year-old Dr. Hamid Mirshojae.

“Everybody in the Woodland Hills area, even in Los Angeles, knows that he was a really good doctor,” Mirshojeh's family friend, Mariem Alaei, told KTLA. “Always laughing, always joking, always helping people.”

There is a memorial for the doctor outside the clinic and a prayer vigil was held for him.

According to local reports, Mirshojaye leaves behind his wife, who was in Turkey at the time of the murder, and their six-month-old baby. The Daily Mail reported that Mirshojaye has three adult children from a previous marriage.
