California father arrested after son used his stolen gun to kill 10-year-old boy

Police arrested a California father and his 10-year-old son on Saturday after the boy allegedly used a stolen weapon to shoot and kill another 10-year-old.

The son allegedly found a stolen firearm in his father's car. When police responded to a report of a shooting in Sacramento County, they found the second boy unresponsive and bleeding from his head and neck, police said in an official statement.

“At the same time, witnesses at the scene told deputies that the shooter fled into a nearby apartment,” the sheriff's office said. “Deputies summoned everyone at the apartment and took everyone into custody without incident. One adult and two juveniles were taken into custody from the apartment.”

Police arrested Arkete Davis, 53, and her son, but police did not release their names.

Davis is charged with multiple counts of felonious use of a firearm, as well as child endangerment and aiding and abetting a crime. His son is being held in a juvenile detention center and has been charged with murder.
