A father in California faced intense backlash online after a video showed him allegedly grabbing a woman’s T-shirt during a rodeo event.
He then gave the shirt to his young daughter.
Marco Caracas, a real estate broker, reached for a shirt that seemed to be intended for a female audience member at the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Rodeo this past Saturday.
After catching it, he passed the shirt back to his daughter, who was seated a few rows back. Following this, he turned to the woman, tapped her on the shoulder, and indicated towards his family.
The clip spread widely across social media, leaving viewers divided on his actions—some viewed him as a dedicated father, while others criticized him for being disrespectful.
“A father here is showing his daughter how little respect he has for women,” commented one observer.
Another pointed out, “He would have gritted his teeth if he had to tap me on the shoulder like that.”
Meanwhile, some defended him, saying, “If you snooze, you lose; that’s how life is.”
One user suggested, “Personally, I see a guy just trying to please his daughter, but he also seems to care about what strangers think.”
Caracas later took to Instagram, stating in a video, “I went to the SLO County Sheriff’s Rodeo and caught a t-shirt thrown into the crowd. Ever since, I’ve been labeled in every possible way.”
He questioned, “If a man had been next to me, would the reaction have been so harsh?”
Interestingly, it appears that both Caracas and his wife mentioned they strive to live a “Christ-centered life.” They stated, “My daughter ultimately handed that shirt to a woman, and that was that, but I wonder how far this man would go for his daughters.”
However, some still held him accountable, with a woman commenting, “At least my daughter had enough decency to give it to her. She didn’t seem too thrilled receiving it from him, though—maybe she felt embarrassed.”
