Two teenage girls at a California high school are criticizing athletic department officials for comparing their “Save Girls' Sports” T-shirts to “swastikas.”
Caitlin and Taylor, who play on the team at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, Calif., rarely participate in practices and wear “Save Girls' Sports” shirts in support of transgender players who should not participate in practices. He said he was treated with disdain by school officials when he wore one. Who qualified but was selected to the national team in Taylor's place? fox news Reported.
The girls are now suing the school.
“My first reaction was really surprised, because I was like, why is this happening to me?” Taylor said. “There is a transgender student on the team. I study hard and attend every practice, and this student has only attended a few practices, so why am I being kicked out? Is that so?”
The girls claim in the lawsuit that school officials forced the activists to remove their shirts and were told they were creating a “hostile environment” at the school. Officials also said the shirt was the same as wearing a swastika.
“It was definitely difficult to hear because we're not trying to express hate in any way,” Caitlin said. “We're just trying to raise awareness of the situation by wearing shirts that represent what we believe in.”
The girls and their attorneys also pointed out that trans students are allowed to wear “trans pride” items and that LGBTQ pride flags are displayed in classrooms.
“The biological male transgender athlete who replaced TS on the girls' varsity team recently transferred from another local high school after breaking the school's all-time cross country record on the girls' cross country team,” the girls' lawsuit states. It is written in
TS, who had held the top seven position on the girls' national team since August 2024, was removed from the top seven on the girls' national team to make room for an 11th grade transgender student in the top seven, and TS was demoted. “Involved the junior varsity team in one of the most important competitions of the season for college recruiting,'' the complaint added.
Taylor also claims that being removed from the team could prevent him from earning a scholarship, which could have a negative impact on his future education.
Attorney Julian Fleischer argued that the school violated his client's First and Fourteenth Amendment rights and its Title IX protections.
“We are seeing more and more women and young girls speaking out and opposing policies that allow biological boys to participate and participate in these sports,” Fleischer said. he insisted. “And we're seeing lawsuits happening all over the country. We hope that the next administration and Congress will also make a real commitment to Title IX that actually upholds and protects women's rights to participate in sports and to participate safely in sports.” I look forward to seeing positive changes.”
Fleischer is right that more women and girls are standing up against allowing men who identify as women to participate in women's sports.

For example, the girls' high school volleyball team at a Christian school in Merced, California, recently withdrew from a game because it did not want to play against transgender players.
Christian High School is just one of a growing list of school teams refusing to play opponents with transgender players. This year, a lawsuit was filed against San Jose State University (SJSU) and the Mountain West Conference for allowing male players to play on the SJSU women's volleyball team.
To date, five universities have refused to play against SJSU because transgender athlete Blair Fleming is enrolled at the school.
The National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) is also being sued by multiple organizations over its policy of allowing transgender athletes to play as women.
