Police announced Monday that a California man who reported his wife and mother missing in September has been charged with capital murder in their deaths.
According to San Pablo police, Phuc Vo, 40, is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of his wife, Toh Ly, 40, and her mother, Que Tran, 74.
Authorities have not found the women’s bodies or said how they were killed.
Vo filed a missing persons report on September 13, 2023, saying the two women had gone missing a week earlier. Police said a family argument led her to leave home in a 2017 Honda Fit to travel to Southern California.

Investigators said information about the woman who had traveled to Southern California could not be “corroborated.”
During the investigation, detectives “discovered inconsistencies” in Vo’s statements regarding the women’s vehicle. Authorities said he was seen driving in Oakland on December 5, 2023.

“Vo was subsequently identified as a person of interest in connection with the missing person case,” the police statement said.
On February 29, investigators searched Vo’s home and arrested him.the neighbor said fox san francisco Authorities were seen digging up Vo’s garden.

He is being held without bail at the Martinez Detention Center, according to jail records.
