A man who was rescued after his kayak capsized on the Sacramento River last week died, according to local reports and authorities.
The man, in his 50s, was in a serious condition after being rescued by paramedics last Thursday. FOX40 reported.

A good Samaritan saw the man near the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers around 9:15 a.m. and tried to throw him a lifeline several times.

The caller then used a pontoon boat to stop the kayaker from drifting into the river, but it was too heavy to lift. The Sacramento Bee reported.
First responders arrived on scene and rescued the kayaker. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Captain Sylvia confirmed to Fox News Digital that the man died Sunday night.

The man’s death came amid severe storms that hit the Golden State over the weekend. Heavy rains have caused water levels to rise and rivers to flow faster than normal.
