California Post begins a new chapter in journalism with recognizable roots

The California Post Launches Under New York Post Media Group

A new chapter in news delivery kicked off recently with the launch of the California Post. This publication, which officially started operations on January 26th, will function as a distinct entity under the umbrella of the New York Post Media Group. The aim? To employ a straightforward style of journalism while bringing more accountability to Californian news.

California Post’s Editor-in-Chief, Nick Papps, discussed the core mission with enthusiasm, saying, “We want to focus on our audience, delivering common-sense journalism with a sharp focus on what matters to them.” He emphasized this has always been the winning formula for the New York Post.

Papps envisions that the California Post will bear a resemblance to its New York sibling, featuring an eye-catching daily front page packed with the biggest stories. However, the target audience will be distinctly Californian.

This state, with its vast population of around 39 million—making it the world’s fourth-largest economy—faces significant challenges like homelessness, affordability, and crime. “These are pressing issues for Californians,” he noted, expressing the publication’s intent to tackle them head-on.

Much like the New York Post, this new outlet promises comprehensive coverage across hard news, sports, and entertainment. Expect to see coverage of celebrity happenings, Hollywood industry insights, and updates on the vibrant California sports scene.

Papps emphasized their commitment to serving the public: “We aim to celebrate life in California, shed light on neglected stories, and, quite frankly, have some fun along the way.” He added that the goal is to be the go-to news source for Californians at all times—whether it’s morning, noon, or night.

As a new player in the media landscape, California Post aims to offer a mix of content that will be accessible across various platforms and formats: mobile, desktop, videos, social media, and even daily print editions.

“Our mission is to resonate with our readers while leading the conversation on important state issues,” Papps concluded, highlighting the publication’s role in keeping those in power accountable.
