A California woman killed her boyfriend and one of her two daughters, then herself. brutal murder-suicide According to the Los Angeles Police Department, it spanned three gruesome crime scenes.
Investigators say Daniel Chelakya Johnson, 34, stabbed his live-in boyfriend, Jalen Chaney, 29, to death in their Woodland Hills apartment early Monday morning.
She then left in her Porsche Cayenne with her two daughters, a 9-year-old and an 8-month-old baby. Police said she was driving on Highway 405 when she either knocked them out of the car she was traveling in or fell around 4:30 a.m.
“The 9-year-old girl was holding a baby when she was removed from the vehicle,” Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Guy Golan said. She said: “She was injured when she hit the roadway and she let go of the toddler who was in the middle of the highway.”
The infant was hit by a car and died. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Another driver on the highway called police after finding her body near Centinela Avenue in the Westchester neighborhood.
Investigators said witnesses said Johnson was driving the Porsche at high speed before crashing into a tree in Redondo Beach around 5 a.m. She was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A 26-year-old neighbor who lives in the same apartment complex told KABC-TV about what he saw Monday morning.
“The door was wide open, there were bloodstains on the floor going into the apartment, there were bloodstains in the hallway leading to the elevator, bloodstains could be seen on the walls,” she said.
Her father called police about the bloody scene.
“I called the police and told them something wasn’t right,” he said. “When he spoke to the paramedics, he was asked to go inside and identify the body, which he did, and found him face down on the floor, dead, bleeding profusely. I did.”
Neighbors also said they heard loud arguments coming from the apartment the same night as the alleged stabbing.
By the time police were called to the crime scene in Woodland Hills around 7:30 a.m., both the infant and mother were dead.
The surviving 9-year-old daughter was treated at a hospital and then taken into custody at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
According to KABC, sources said her daughter witnessed the stabbing in her apartment. Johnson had reportedly been living with Cheney for several years, and she was planning to divorce another man, the father of her 9-year-old child.
