Cameron Brink’s rehabilitation from her ACL injury took an unexpected turn recently as she addressed critics who questioned the seriousness of her recovery.
In a post on her Instagram story, Brink, who has been sidelined for about a year, responded to fans in Los Angeles.
“Usually, I wouldn’t engage with this sort of thing, but today I have the time,” Brink stated, sharing a detailed message about her situation.
“I would give anything to be back on the court right now. Basketball is my passion, it means everything to me… so to say otherwise, I think you’re not really a true fan,” she added.
The second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Brink had been averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game before her injury during a game against the Connecticut Sun last June.
“You never think it’ll happen to you. It’s tough to predict, and even though it takes so much effort sometimes, I know it only makes me stronger,” Brink, 23, reflected in her post.
She emphasized, “I’m not veering off course. I deeply love this life. While I’m not defined by basketball, it’s a huge part of my life, and I work hard every day for it. I’m not done with basketball.” Brink, despite her team’s 3-7 standing, expressed eagerness to return to the court.
“I appreciate those who understand ACL recovery. It’s a long process, taking about a year, and I’m thankful for the support. I can’t wait to play again,” she noted.
Brink is set to return to the game in 2026 after her recovery. At the start of January, she mentioned, “I couldn’t do much initially, but every day I’m making more progress.”
The timeline for recovering from an ACL injury can vary widely, typically ranging from six to twelve months.
