Can I ask for a raise to cover this new congestion charge?

With the new congestion pricing, I won’t be able to pay for my commute. If my employer requires me to come to work, can I ask for a raise to cover the increased costs?

There are many problems with New York City’s congestion pricing, but no one is talking about its impact on employee commuting costs.

The problem is that your employer may suggest that you can save a lot of money by taking public transportation. This is one of the purposes of congestion pricing.

In any case, if costs change this drastically, you at least have a legitimate reason to discuss compensation with your boss.

Alternatively, you can plan to carpool at the office.

I would like to hear your opinion on the value of the interviewee thanking the interviewee/panel for their time after a job interview. I’m not a fan of his work for two reasons. First, it sounds artificial, like this is advice from “Acting Interviews for Dummies” or something. Secondly, if I perform my role properly and confidently in the interview, people will thank me for their time. Is there any truth to this?
Of course you could take that approach, but why would you?

what is that?

Interviewers work on one position and have to consider many applicants. It’s also customary to thank your prospective employer for their consideration, so it’s easy to “ace” this part of the process.

So don’t be a “dummy”.

Play the game and don’t let your ego get in the way of achieving your end goal.
