James Gagliano Discusses Anti-ICE Protests and Threats to Agents

James Gagliano, a former FBI Special Agent, recently shared insights about ongoing anti-ICE protests in Newark, New Jersey, where tensions have significantly escalated. Following incidents of violence, including the arrest of a Brooklyn man for allegedly threatening to kill ICE officers, a curfew has been put in place to manage the chaos. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin expressed a strict “zero tolerance” stance toward such threats, while New Jersey Senator Cory Booker described ICE operations as being “out of control.” Gagliano cautioned that continued protests pose serious risks.

Incident Involving Teen at the Jersey Shore

A Canadian individual is now under the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement after reportedly slapping a politically dressed teenager at the Jersey Shore. Surveillance footage reportedly caught Katelyn Tracy, 33, confronting a group of teens in Point Pleasant Beach during the Fourth of July holiday. Some of the teens were wearing pants emblazoned with “Trump” and “ICE”. According to court filings, Tracy, who entered the U.S. on a passport in 2024, allegedly assaulted one of the girls and even recorded the altercation.

An official from the Ocean County Jail confirmed that Tracy is now in ICE custody as of Monday. She was reportedly moved to Delaney Hall in Newark, a location known for ongoing confrontations between left-wing protesters and ICE. Tracy faces charges, including endangering a child’s welfare and simple assault, although the victim was not injured.

Political Climate in New Jersey

Even with New Jersey’s adoption of sanctuary policies, Ocean County remains a Republican stronghold, notably represented by Chris Smith, the longest-serving member of Congress from any party, in office since 1981. It’s unclear what specific immigration charges ICE is pursuing against Tracy, and efforts to obtain clarification from the Department of Homeland Security are ongoing.
