Cincinnati City Council Candidate Arrested

Kevin Farmer, a candidate for the Cincinnati City Council, found himself in legal trouble over robbery allegations, which contradicted his campaign focus on violence prevention.

The 39-year-old was apprehended at the residence of fellow Republican candidate Rosemary Oglesby Henry. Reportedly, he gained entry by breaking a garage window, and prosecutors claimed there is video evidence of the act.

Oglesby-Henry reacted strongly, asserting, “He is an abuser and I will not back down. I will use the law the right way to protect women and get my life back on track.”

This incident adds to an ongoing conflict between the two, further complicated by past accusations. Farmer has expressed his intent to withdraw from the City Council race but still plans to remain on the ballot for the election set for November 4, albeit without any party endorsement.

While non-partisan in title, his fundraising page features a raised fist symbol commonly associated with socialist movements. Even though he’s a registered Republican, he has not received endorsement from the Ohio Republican Party.

In a previous confrontation, Oglesby-Henry had accused Farmer of squatting in her home, and she faced arrest in late September for allegedly pointing a gun at him. She claimed law enforcement had wrongfully incarcerated her while Farmer continued to occupy her home illegally.

She denied ever brandishing a firearm, asserting that no weapons were discovered during the police investigation. Her charges included aggravated menacing related to the incident.

In July, Farmer was charged with domestic violence and assault against Oglesby-Henry, but she later decided to drop the charges. An order of protection was still granted against him.

Interestingly, Farmer has made efforts to address violence and improve resources in underprivileged communities. His recent court records reveal charges not only for theft but also for violating a protective order.

Currently, he is being held on a $60,000 bond and will need to wear an ankle monitor upon his release.
