Career criminal taken into custody for inappropriate behavior with Trader Joe's refrigerator

This week, a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal record was arrested at a Trader Joe’s in Seattle. He allegedly breached the refrigerator and made threats to kill everyone in the store while brandishing a knife.

According to police, the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Kieran Terrell Malone, entered the East Madison Street store hurling racial slurs, swinging his knife around. He even acted out inappropriately with the refrigerator and attempted to do the same with customers.

When confronted by security staff, Malone became aggressive. Reports indicate he kicked over a flower display and angrily threw an apple at one of the guards.

In a concerning turn of events, he reportedly threatened to “kill everyone in the store,” which added to the chaos.

Multiple officers responded to the situation, leading to Malone’s arrest on felony harassment charges, after which he was taken to King County Jail.

Authorities noted that “a suspect’s life can be much more difficult if not allowed to come within 500 feet of the fridge,” referencing the bizarre nature of the August 5 incident. Homicide and assault detectives have since been assigned to the case.

Malone has a troubling past, which includes a rape conviction and an attempted home robbery in 2018. He was sentenced to just 6.75 months in 2020, followed by 24 months of supervised probation.

Documents reveal that Malone broke into a woman’s house, attempting to assault her while her infant was sleeping nearby. He also has a history of breaking into senior residential facilities, stealing cash and electronics, further violating his probation.

In a significant instance, Malone was initially charged with robbery, but in 2022, a state assessor deemed him incapable of standing trial, leading to a judge ordering him to be hospitalized for capacity restoration. Ultimately, the robbery charges were dismissed because he had spent 40 days in jail, exceeding the time limits mandated by law for transferring him to a state facility.

Interestingly, a LinkedIn profile believed to belong to Malone claims he graduated from Villanova University in 2014 and has worked as a camera operator for a church for over 11 years.

A police spokesperson mentioned that Washington state law prevents them from releasing mugshots of suspects.

Currently, Malone remains in custody at King County Jail, facing new charges with a bond set at $1,000.
