Carly Pearce Reflects on Her Marriage and Personal Growth
Carly Pearce recently shared her experience regarding the end of her marriage, revealing that she recognized it was the wrong decision almost immediately after saying “I do.”
In a candid conversation on the podcast *The Person Who Believed in Me*, the country singer reflected on her wedding night, stating, “He made it very clear to me that I had made a very big mistake.”
She described her feelings as a sort of “Jekyll and Hyde” situation, admitting she didn’t fully understand it until too late. “I’m thankful for my very short marriage,” she noted, explaining how it taught her a lot about herself, leading to her album *29*.
When the discussion turned to her marriage and subsequent divorce, Pearce expressed how it revealed her strength. She realized, “This is not what I deserved,” which prompted her to take action. “I blew up my life to get out of there,” she explained. She didn’t stay out of societal pressure, religious beliefs, or public perception. “It’s over,” was her decisive conclusion.
Pearce was married to fellow country artist Michael Ray from October 2019 to June 2020. The experiences from this relationship significantly inspired her third album, *29*, featuring tracks like “What He Didn’t Do” and “Next Girl.”
Although Pearce claims she struggles with communication, she finds solace in writing songs. “I need to write it down to process it,” she said, which led her to create “six really intense songs” about her divorce—she even thought that was too many for one album.
She initially viewed her story as personal but soon realized it resonates with many others. The album also earned her a Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her song “Never Wanted to be That Girl,” featuring Ashley McBride.
In 2025, Pearce shared a cozy selfie on Instagram, confirming her relationship with entrepreneur Jordan Kercher.
During a guest appearance on the *Dumb Blonde* podcast in August 2025, she expressed her happiness about this new relationship. They met on the dating app Raya, which she never expected to lead to a meaningful connection. “I thought, how can I meet someone like me? He’s not in the entertainment industry. This is the best thing. I’m really happy,” she remarked.
Pearce has also been vocal about health issues, encouraging her followers to seek medical advice when needed. This comes after her own struggle with a misdiagnosis of pericarditis, during which she felt overlooked by medical professionals. “Oh, you have anxiety. Oh, you have a busy schedule,” were some of the dismissive comments she heard. “I thought, ‘No, something’s wrong.’ In 2024, I made it public, just to explore it further. I’m doing really well now, and while I don’t have special skills, I think honesty can really help people. If something’s wrong, go get tested,” she urged.
