Cartel Gunmen Dump Four Bodies near South Korean Plant in Mexican Border City

Cartel gunmen left four bodies in a truck in an area near the South Korean company LG's manufacturing plant in the border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas state.

The violent crime occurred Sunday morning in east Reynosa, when authorities responded to a call about a body inside a black Ford Ranger truck. Tamaulipas State Police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.

The gunmen parked their truck under an overpass just outside the LG Electronics factory in Reynosa and covered the body with a tarp.

Authorities did not report finding any threatening banners or posters at the crime scene. The gunmen tied up the bodies of the four men, but the bodies showed signs of torture. The victims were shot execution-style.

Investigators who spoke with Breitbart Texas revealed that the crime was likely related to an ongoing turf war between rival factions of the Gulf Cartel.

The Metros faction, based in Reynosa, has been fighting attacks from the Escorpiones faction, based in Matamoros. However, the Escorpiones control the city of Rio Bravo, a short drive east of Reynosa.

Although the recent crimes appear to be cartel-related, the area where the rival factions are fighting is near several industrial parks that are home to many international factories and manufacturing plants. It remains unclear whether the ongoing violence will have a long-term impact on international business.

As Breitbart Texas reported, the turf war has made the area between the two cities a dangerous place where gunfights, carjackings and the use of explosives are common, with both sides using drones to attack They have dropped IEDs and planted mines on dirt roads. Keep your rivals at bay.

Law enforcement officials in Tamaulipas state told Breitbart Texas that the Mexican National Guard and Mexican military are avoiding confrontations with cartel forces, leaving all fighting to state police. Furthermore, federal forces did not raid cartel caches or target cartel leaders; the only entity that did so was the Tamaulipas Attorney General's Office.
