Hollywood stars are criticizing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Newsom over their response to the devastating wildfires that have devastated Southern California.
“The City of Los Angeles wants everyone to evacuate, yet there is a complete traffic jam and not a single traffic cop on the road,” Geller wrote, tagging buses and the City of Los Angeles.
The Palisades Fire has ravaged the celebrity-filled neighborhood since Tuesday, burning an astonishing 17,234 acres (square miles) in the past day and a half.
Actor James Woods, who lost his home in the Palisades fire, gushed on X that the wildfires were not caused by “climate change” but by “liberal idiots like Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass.”
James Woods: “If it's true that Gavin Newsom is a total idiot, and I believe he has a problem with the way he manages fires in this state,… It's the kind of thing we have in place.” pic.twitter.com/D6c2qsTHKo
“One side has no understanding of fire management, and the other side cannot fill the reservoir,” he added.
In another post, Woods wrote, “This was taken last night from our beautiful little house in the Palisades. Right now all the fire alarms are going off all at once, remotely. It tests your soul and takes you all at once. I have to say I will lose everything.”
This was taken last night from our beautiful little house in the Palisades. All fire alarms are now sounding simultaneously by remote control.
Actress Sarah Foster similarly told X that even though Los Angeles residents pay high taxes, the Golden State is still not prepared to deal with wildfires of this magnitude. Ta.
We pay the highest taxes in California. Our fire hydrant was empty. Our plants were overgrown and the bushes were not mowed. Our reservoir was emptied by the governor because tribal leaders wanted to save the fish. Our fire department's budget has been cut by the mayor. But thank God for medicine…
“The fire hydrants were empty. Our plants were overgrown and the brush was not mowed. Our reservoirs were emptied by the governor because tribal leaders wanted to save the fish. Our fire department's budget has been cut by the mayor. But thankfully drug addicts are getting drug kits,” she wrote.
Foster, the daughter of music mogul David Foster and known for being politically active, called on Bass and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (R-Calif.) to resign, saying, “Your far-left policies has ruined our state. And our party.”
Celebrities including Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal and Anthony Hopkins have revealed they lost their homes in the devastating fires.
Hilton shared on social media that he saw his Malibu waterfront home burn down on TV, while Crystal and his wife Janice shared that their home of 45 years burned down.
The outrage comes after a series of fires broke out in Los Angeles this week and residents were forced to evacuate as Santa Ana winds exceeded 160 mph in the Palisades, Eaton and surrounding areas.
As of Thursday morning, there were five fires burning in Los Angeles County, three of which were 0% contained, burning about 30,000 acres (47 square miles).
The Palisades Fire alone burned more than 17,000 acres (26.5 square miles) and forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate.
Officials also announced that at least five people have died in the wildfires.
