Charles Barkley threatens to assault black Trump supporters, but his CNN cohost quickly steps in with reality check

NBA legend Charles Barkley recently threatened to assault Black Americans who support Donald Trump, prompting a quick reality check from CNN co-host Gayle King.

On the latest episode of “King Charles,” Dr. King asked Barkley about President Trump. controversial statements he made That black Americans sympathize with his run-ins with the criminal justice system. President Trump even claimed that black Americans wear T-shirts with his infamous mugshot on them.

Mr Barclay responded that such people deserved to be assaulted.

“First of all, let me say this: If I see a black person walking around with a Trump mug, I’m going to punch him in the face,” he said.

“Charles,” King interjected. “Mr. A, I can’t say that because that’s not my intention.”

“Oh, I mean that from the heart,” Barkley retorted.

“And you get arrested for assault. So what?” King followed.

“I’m going to save myself and go celebrate,” Barclay replied.

Barkley said Trump’s comments justified his threat as an “insult to all black people” because they likened his plight to “our history of black discrimination.” But Mr. Barkley argued that was a false equivalency because Mr. Trump is a billionaire and is being prosecuted for the “wrong thing.”

This last statement caused Berkeley to receive another fact-check from King.

“It’s still in the court system, Charles. We have to wait. It’s still in the court system,” she told Barclay, hoping that guilt will be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Until then, Trump was reminded of the presumption of innocence.

Regardless of the merits of Mr. Trump’s claims, Mr. Barkley’s response seems to reflect the classic Democratic tradition that black voters should not support the Republican Party.

But black voters are increasingly asking themselves what the Democratic Party has accomplished on their behalf and questioning whether they should remain loyal to the party. And as more black Americans realize there are few answers to that question, more are turning away from the Democratic Party.

If Election Day plays out that way, Black voters will have sent an important message to President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party: We’re tired of empty promises, and if we don’t And I’m tired of being treated as if I’m less than black.I don’t support your agenda.
