Charlie Kirk, Founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, told Blaze Media Co-Founder: glenn beck He said he would work to obtain a full pardon for Blaze News investigative journalist Steve Baker.
Kirk made the comments during an appearance on Beck's radio show on Friday.
“To all the non-violent offenders of January 6th, I am committed, and so is President Trump, to grant them full and complete pardons.”
“The legal issues are not completely over. As someone who supports the transition, I would like to say this: We are doing the best we can, and who are the most important appointments that are going to be made?” [President-elect Donald Trump] He plans to elect him to be U.S. Attorney General. That's going to set the tone for the entire presidency, from the legal issues to the investigations to the weaponization of the FBI,” Kirk said.
“And Glenn, I put my heart and soul into appealing for a full pardon for Blaze's journalists and for his entire show trial to be dropped,” he added.
“Thank you,” Beck replied. “That's crazy. Thank you.”
“It's crazy. I can't remember his name, but he's phenomenal.”
“Steve Baker,” Beck said.
Baker is being pursued by the Justice Department on trespassing and other charges related to his reporting on the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol following the 2020 election. He maintains his innocence and claims other journalists and photographers have not been prosecuted like him.
Kirk went on to explain other steps President Trump could take to undermine the deep state within the government.
“By the way, to all the nonviolent offenders of January 6th, I'm going to urge – and President Trump has promised – to grant full and complete pardons and commute the sentences of nonviolent offenders. -'' he said.
“I think this is a significant statement and a demoralizing event for the deep state, which has spent much of its time and career tracking down ordinary Americans who have done nothing wrong,” Kirk said. He continued. “And I think we have to lead the charge on that. I think we have to seek pardons for hundreds of people. I know that sounds extreme.”
He went on to say that the Founders would have been happy to use the pardon power enshrined in the Constitution to benefit the executive branch of government.
In response to Kirk's pledge, Baker told Blaze News: “I am honored and grateful that Charlie has remembered my case. I greatly appreciate all the help Charlie provides to me and the other non-violent J6 defendants.” All of us. ”
Baker's case is scheduled to go to trial on November 12th.
