Vice President JD Vance to Transport Charlie Kirk’s Body

On September 11, 2025, following the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah, Vice President JD Vance’s plane, Air Force Two, will carry Kirk’s remains to Arizona.

Initially, Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance were set to attend a 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero in New York. However, plans shifted to allow them to visit Kirk’s family and friends in Salt Lake City. Consequently, Air Force Two will now take Kirk’s casket back to his home state.

Sources indicate that Kirk’s family will accompany the body during the flight to Phoenix.

Kirk was a co-founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a conservative organization focused on engaging young adults. The headquarters for TPUSA are located in Phoenix.

Following Kirk’s passing, the vice president took to social media to share his thoughts. Vance and Kirk had been friends for several years.

“I was talking to President Trump today, and he mentioned, ‘I know he was a very good friend of yours.’ I nodded, and he noted how much Charlie cherished his family. He was right. Charlie was incredibly proud of Erika and their two kids,” Vance reflected in a post, memorializing Kirk.

The vice president is not scheduled for any public appearances on September 11.
