Vice President JD Vance to Host Q&A in Tribute to Charlie Kirk
Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to lead a Q&A session at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi on Wednesday, honoring the late conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
This free event will be held at the Sandy and John Black Pavilion and is part of the “This Is the Turning Point” campus tour.
Vance will be introduced by Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, who is participating in her first campus tour to commemorate her husband’s dedication to engaging younger audiences. The session will resemble Kirk’s interactive debate-style format, allowing students to pose challenging questions.
“Erika Kirk will honor Charlie’s legacy during her first stop on the campus tour, paying tribute to her husband’s work to connect with the next generation, and acknowledging the TPUSA team’s efforts to carry on his mission despite the tragic loss. She’s ready, and so is Vice President Vance, to make this a memorable evening,” said TPUSA spokesperson Aubrey Laitsch.
Vance, who had a long-standing friendship with Kirk, remarked, “Keeping Charlie’s memory alive means keeping his mission alive.”
“There’s no replacing Charlie, but if we all take pieces of his legacy, we can help ensure that his mission endures,” he explained, adding that part of this effort involves college campus tours.
He continued, “Engagement was a significant part of Charlie’s legacy. It wasn’t just about speaking; he genuinely interacted with people.”
The vice president expressed his intention to mirror Kirk’s approach by tackling tough questions from both sides of the political spectrum during the event.
Set to commence at 5 p.m. CT, the event is open to everyone, though students will have priority access. Attendees will also need to undergo security screening upon entry, given the recent circumstances surrounding Kirk’s assassination.
