The Cincinnati, Ohio, native was a standout at St. Xavier High School and contributed to the Wolverines on Sunday.

Although Herbstreit is unranked by ESPN, his father, Kirk, has worked as a college football analyst since 1995.

The younger Herbstreit arrived as a 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback prospect who scored 26 total touchdowns during his senior season in high school.

He also led St. Xavier to the regional finals.

Herbstreit will be the second quarterback in the Class of 2025 to commit to the University of Michigan, following No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood. Underwood had previously committed to LSU, but reversed his commitment to the Wolverines after receiving a staggering $10.5 million offer from NIL.

The older Herbstreit was also a quarterback in college.

The longtime ESPN analyst played at Ohio State from 1989 to 1992, starting his senior season and helping lead the team to an 8-3-1 record.
